DESCRIPTION
This will be an overview/update on the impact nutrition has on the human microbiome and conversely, what role the microbiome plays in nutrition. We will be reviewing specific foods, supplements, and nutrients and the roles they play as well as a wholistic perspective on what a healthy microbiome diet might look like.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Discuss ways in which nutrition, including supplementation, can influence the microbiome, and conversely discuss how the microbiome can influence an individual’s nutritional status.

Define and review key concepts into the human/microbiome interface including intrinsic, extrinsic, and bacterial modulation.

List known nutritional-microbiome interactions as well as recent nutrition/microbiome findings for future clinical nutrition applications.
INSTRUCTOR
Cory Szybala, NMD is the Chief Marketing Officer at Thaena Inc. Dr. Szybala received a BA in Biochemistry from Indiana University with minors in psychology, Spanish, and biology. He earned his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine.
Originally trained as a biochemist, Dr. Szybala has worked in the medical field for nearly 20 years. He has a unique perspective and passion for integrative medicine and natural talent for graphic design. He previously worked as an adjunct faculty member at NUNM in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Szybala is currently the Co-Founder of Sun Valley Natural Medicine and specializes in using a holistic approach to help his patient’s rediscover their optimal health by nurturing their microbial ecosystems.
